Yale University Invests in 2 Crypto Funds
Yale, armed with its $29 billion endowment, has entered the cryptocurrency game. The prestigious university has invested in Paradigm’s $400 million fund as well as Andreessen Horowitz’s $300 million crypto fund.
While the size of the investments are unknown, it is telling that traditional, institutional money is entering the ring.
Circle buys SeedInvest, a registered broker-dealer
Circle has announced that they will purchase SeedInvest, an equity crowdfunding industry leader and an SEC and FINRA registered Broker-Dealer. This is a particularly important acquisition as it enables Circle to “accelerate delivering a token marketplace that enables businesses and individuals to raise capital and interact with investors using open crypto rails and infrastructure.”
SeedInvest helps startups raise money through crowdfunding. Since 2012, the company has helped 220 firms raise money from 240,000 investors. The acquisition will enable SeedInvest to help firms raise money through cryptocurrencies by offering tokenized securities.

TD Ameritrade Invests in ErisX, a Cryptocurrency Exchange
After being one of the first firms to allow Bitcoin futures trading to approved investors, TD Ameritrade is has announced an investment in ErisX, a digital assets trading platform. ErisX allows customers to trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin futures. The futures contracts will be physically delivered, not cash-settled.
ErisX is also working on allowing customers to trade Ethereum and Litecoin futures.
